Dopper
December 19, 2019

Great things are happening. Great things for our oceans, to be exact. On December 6th, we welcomed clothing, cosmetics and homeware brand Kauf Dich Glücklich to the P.E.T. Free Movement. Huzzah. Another group of waterful people who pledge to make single-use P.E.T. water bottles a thing of the past. Very cool. Which makes sense: a cool brand doing cool stuff.

In case this is the first you’ve ever heard of Kauf Dich Glücklich, let us introduce you. Because you’ve been missing out.

Dopper

How it started

It’s been 17 years since managing directors Andrea Dahmen and Christoph Munier opened up a small shop in Berlin. They sold the ultimate combination of waffles and vintage furniture. That’s right. Sugar and chairs. Why didn’t we think of that? Fast forward to 2019 and their ironically named Kauf Dich Glücklich (Buy Yourself Happy) has concept stores at 22 locations. And an online shop. If it’s the waffles you’re after, you will find them at the KDG Café in Berlin. At several other locations you can still have a cup of coffee and / or buy some of the décor you see. All while browsing a range of (sustainable) cosmetics and fashion.

Sustainability

Still reading? Or did we lose you at ‘online shop’? Just bear with us; there’s more. Andrea and Christoph don’t just have a very cool outlook on life, but also a sustainable one. They’re constantly expanding the range of sustainable items they offer. From Armed Angels clothing and fair trade, organic cosmetics to a certain ocean-saving water bottle (cough Dopper cough). On top of that, when ordering online you can choose to let them reuse old packaging materials for your package. Yes, please.

P.E.T. Free Pledge

Obviously, we’re more than a little excited for these guys to join our P.E.T. Free Movement. By signing the Pledge, Andrea and Christoph have vowed to banish single-use plastic water bottles from their Berlin headquarters. Speaking completely objectively, we’d say that’s a truly excellent choice. To help the 65 HQ-employees say no to single-use, every one of them received a Kauf Dich Glücklich-branded Dopper. And you know what they say. Less single-use plastic, more fun.

Explaining their decision to go P.E.T. Free (in case it wasn’t already obvious), Andrea and Christoph said: “Recycling merely deals with the symptoms. However, if we can prevent millions of PET bottles from being produced, and then shipped around half of Europe in the first place, we attack the root of the problem!”

Enough said.
