So you've got a new Dopper Travel Mug. Excited to take that first sip of hot caffeine, you are surprised by a mouthful of room-temp coffee. “Well great, that totally ruined my Monday morning.”
But wait! Don’t rush to blaming your Travel Mug just yet. Because the best tool is only as good as the hands using it. Give Van Gogh the finest brush in the world, and it still means nothing if he uses it like a toothbrush.
Yes, the Travel Mug is built to keep your drinks hot for hours, but a few small habits can make a big difference between “lukewarm” and “still-perfect-three-hours-later”.
Below are our 4 tips to get the most out of your Travel Mug – so every sip feels like the first.
Fill the Travel Mug with boiling water (please don’t put it in the microwave). Let it sit for about 2–3 minutes. Then, tip it out before pouring in your hot drink.
A cold mug acts like a heat sponge. It draws warmth from your drink the moment you fill up your Travel Mug. By preheating, you give the mug a head start, so it stops competing with your hot coffee/tea and start getting along with it.

The hotter your drink goes in, the hotter it stays at the finish line. So, brew fresh, pour immediately, and skip that step where you sit-and-stare. Your Travel Mug is ready when you are.

An open lid is like leaving your jacket unzipped in winter, or cracking open a soda can form yesterday and wondering why it goes flat. Heat (and fizz) escapes immediately when there's a gap.
Our Travel Mug lid is engineered to create an airtight seal that even fizz can’t slip through. But even that won’t help if you leave the lid open. Close it between every sip. Emphasize on "every".

Breaking news! Bigger isn't always better.
In physics, we call it thermal mass. In this blog post, you just need to know that air cools things down. The more empty space you leave in your mug, the faster your drink loses heat.
So, whatever you’re brewing, fill it to the brim. More importantly, pick the mug size that best holds your drink.
300ml - The every day: for morning commute, study sessions, a quick café run. Just enough to carry you through the first half of your day.
400ml - The long haul: for road trips, rough Mondays, extra long shifts. When cutting it short isn't an option and neither is stopping for a refill.

No matter how many walls of insulation your Travel Mug has, physics gets the last word, not us 💔
But with a little intention – like a preheat here, a sealed lid there, you can enjoy that hot drink for a whole lot longer. We built our Travel Mug to keep your tea and coffee hot for 6 hours, and cold for 20.
Now, the rest is up to you (and maybe your coffee order ☕️).
