Access to clean water is a human right. Here’s how we work with local partners to bring clean water to communities in Nepal.

Dopper exists to make packaged water obsolete. And packaged water only becomes obsolete when people have access to reliable drinking water.
Access to safe drinking water is therefore not a standalone social project. It is directly connected to our mission.
Every step toward safe drinking water is at the same time a step toward less dependence on packaged water.
That makes this not just a charity project. This is mission-driven systemic change.
Since the sale of the very first Dopper bottle we have invested in safe drinking water projects in Nepal, where only 16% of the people have access to safely managed drinking water services.
Over the past 16 years, every Dopper bottle sold contributed directly to the work we do with our two main partners: Dutch NGO WaterAid NL and Kathmandu-based social enterprise SmartPaani.

WaterAid NL exists to provide women and girls with clean water, sanitation and equal opportunities. We’ve worked with WaterAid NL since Dopper was founded and with them we’ve installed hundreds of water points and toilets across Nepal. However, we realized that if we continued doing this, we would need 1500 years to cover all of Nepal. We needed scale.

And so together with WaterAid NL and our local partners WaterAid Nepal, ENPHO and Biruwa, we started a unique project in 2023 to provide the almost 60,000 inhabitants of the Nepali municipality Changunarayan with sustainable and resilient access to safe drinking water. And by the end, create a practical framework fit for replication and adaptation across Nepal: an open access blueprint model.
In August 2026 we launched this model during World Water Week in Stockholm. The brochure can be downloaded here. The full blueprint guide, including the results from the Sarwacha project, will be published in early 2027.
SmartPaani was established in 2013 to provide sustainable and economical water-treatment solutions in Nepal.
Made up of a team of technicians, researchers and local entrepreneurs SmartPaani have developed tools for rainwater harvesting, water filtration, recycling and wastewater treatment.
We’ve worked with SmartPaani since 2018. We have supported them in-kind with technical, marketing and sales assistance. And we have been financially supporting them to subsidize their school model, providing thousands of students with safe drinking water and WASH training at school.
Our latest collaboration involves the ‘100-school project’ in which 104 schools across Nepal are fitted with a fully functional, sustainable, and resilient safe water supply. We subsidized the accompanying 5 year maintenance contracts for the schools.
